AI-suggested
A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel. The patch modifies tcm_loop_target_reset() to properly drain all in-flight commands by issuing a TMR_LUN_RESET and flushing deferred completion work. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes the fix identified by the commits a836054ea81014117ec6b73529a21626a9e1f829 and others listed. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
CVE-2026-43054 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SCSI target subsystem, specifically in the tcm_loop driver. The issue arises because the target_reset handler does not properly drain in-flight SCSI commands before returning success, violating the SCSI error handling contract. This leads to resource leaks and can cause the configfs LUN unlink operation to hang indefinitely in an uninterruptible sleep state (D-state).
