A patch is available and has been released by vendors including Ubuntu as part of their Linux kernel security updates. Users should apply the official kernel updates to remediate this vulnerability. Since the fix is included in vendor-provided kernel updates, no additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the patch.
Description
A double-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's 9p/xen subsystem was fixed by protecting the xen_9pfs_front_free function against concurrent calls. The xenwatch thread could race with other back-end change notifications, causing xen_9pfs_front_free() to be called twice and resulting in a general protection fault (crash). This fix ensures that only one caller can release the front-end state at a time, preventing the crash.
