Description
CVE-2026-43490 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ksmbd component related to improper validation of inherited ACE SID lengths. The flaw allows malformed inheritable ACEs to specify more subauthorities than present, potentially causing out-of-bounds reads and buffer pointer overruns during security descriptor inheritance. The issue is fixed by validating SID counts and lengths before use and ensuring size calculations match bounded SIDs, rejecting malformed DACLs that could overflow buffers.
