Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in Claris FileMaker Cloud permits an authenticated user with Admin Console privileges to execute arbitrary OS commands by exploiting unsanitized input handling in the External ODBC Data Source connection test feature. The issue is resolved in FileMaker Cloud version 2.22.0.5. There is no CVSS score available, and no known active exploitation has been reported.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an attacker with Admin Console privileges to execute arbitrary operating system commands on the underlying system, potentially leading to full system compromise or unauthorized actions at the OS level. The impact is limited to users with Admin Console access, which restricts the attack surface to privileged users.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade to FileMaker Cloud version 2.22.0.5 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. Since this is not a cloud-hosted service managed by the vendor, administrators must apply the update manually. No other mitigations are specified.
