Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-44367 is a vulnerability in Aiven-Open's Klaw tool affecting versions prior to 2.10.4. It arises from improper handling of case sensitivity in usernames during user registration and login processes. This inconsistency can lead to a targeted denial of service by causing complete account lockout. The vulnerability is classified under CWE-178 (Improper Handling of Case Sensitivity) and CWE-20 (Improper Input Validation). The CVSS 3.1 base score is 2.7, indicating low severity, with network attack vector, low attack complexity, and requiring high privileges but no user interaction. The vulnerability affects availability only, with no impact on confidentiality or integrity. The issue has been patched in version 2.10.4. No cloud service is involved, and no known exploits exist in the wild.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows an attacker with high privileges to cause a denial of service by locking out user accounts due to inconsistent case sensitivity handling in usernames. This impacts availability but does not affect confidentiality or integrity. There are no known exploits in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Klaw to version 2.10.4 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched. Since this is not a cloud service, remediation requires applying the official patch. Patch status is confirmed by the vendor's versioning information. No additional mitigations are indicated.
