AI-suggested

Upgrade Gotenberg to version 8.33.0 or later, where this path traversal vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is required as the fix addresses the root cause of improper filename sanitization.

Description

CVE-2026-44829 is a path traversal vulnerability in Gotenberg versions 8.32.0 and earlier. The issue arises because filename sanitization using filepath.Base on Linux does not handle Windows-style backslash separators, allowing crafted filenames with Windows-style parent directory components to bypass sanitization. This can lead to malicious archive entries that, when extracted on a Windows system, write files outside the intended directory. The vulnerability affects multiple PDF and document conversion routes. It is fixed in version 8.33.0.
