A fix is available that enforces the map must be frozen before the hash is calculated, returning an error otherwise. Users should update to a patched Linux kernel version that includes this fix. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A time-of-check to time-of-use (TOCTOU) vulnerability in the Linux kernel's BPF subsystem allowed userspace to cache a hash of a map before it was frozen, then modify the map contents, causing a trusted loader to verify a stale hash. This could lead to denial of service. The issue is fixed by requiring the map to be frozen before calculating the hash.
