A fix is available that resurrects the percpu_ref before returning the suspend timeout error, preventing the reference counter from remaining permanently killed. Users should apply the official patches or updated kernel versions that include this fix to resolve the issue.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel md/md-llbitmap subsystem causes the percpu_ref reference counter to remain in a killed state after a suspend timeout, preventing proper resurrection. This issue occurs when llbitmap_suspend_timeout() times out waiting for percpu_ref to reach zero and returns -ETIMEDOUT without resurrecting it. The caller then skips calling llbitmap_resume(), leaving the page control structure unusable for subsequent operations. This flaw has been fixed by ensuring the percpu_ref is resurrected before returning the error.
