A fix is available and included in Linux kernel versions 7.0.0-27.27 and later. Users should update to these fixed kernel versions or later to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the official kernel updates.

Description

CVE-2026-46029 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel affecting uniprocessor (UP) configurations where the kmalloc_nolock() function can cause slab allocator corruption when called from NMI context. This occurs because spin_trylock() is a no-op on UP kernels and can lead to re-entrant locking issues. The flaw has been fixed by returning NULL early from kmalloc_nolock() when invoked in NMI context on UP kernels.
