A patch is available and has been released in Linux kernel versions 7.0.0-27.27 and later. Users should upgrade to these fixed versions or later to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official kernel updates.
Description
CVE-2026-46035 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel affecting uniprocessor (UP) configurations where the alloc_frozen_pages_nolock() function can corrupt freelists due to improper handling of spinlocks in NMI context. This occurs because spin_trylock() is a no-op on UP kernels, allowing re-entrant locking that corrupts memory management structures. The issue triggers kernel BUGs under debugging configurations. The vulnerability has been fixed by returning NULL early when called from NMI on UP kernels.
