A fix is available and has been integrated into the Linux kernel. The patch adds validation to reject coh_none PAT indices for CPU cached memory in madvise calls, preventing the GPU from bypassing CPU caches to read stale data. Users and administrators should update to the fixed kernel versions as indicated in the established facts. No additional mitigations are specified or required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
CVE-2026-46309 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/xe/uapi component where a GPU using coh_none coherency mode can bypass CPU caches and read stale sensitive data directly from DRAM. This can lead to information disclosure of data from previously freed pages of other processes. The issue arises because the kernel's page clearing operation remains in CPU cache (dirty), allowing the GPU to access unflushed data. The vulnerability has been fixed by adding validation to reject coh_none PAT indices for CPU cached memory in madvise calls, limiting the risk to integrated GPUs (iGPU).
