Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: manyfold3d
Product: manyfold

Description

Manyfold, an open source web application for managing 3D models, has a path traversal vulnerability in versions prior to 0.140.0. Authenticated users can rename uploaded files using path traversal sequences, allowing files to be moved or written outside the intended library directory. This occurs due to insufficient sanitization of user-controlled filenames in the file handling code. The issue is fixed in version 0.140.0.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-46336 is a path traversal vulnerability (CWE-22) in manyfold versions before 0.140.0. The vulnerability arises because the application uses a user-controlled filename in a file path join operation without proper sanitization, enabling authenticated users to rename files with path traversal sequences. This can cause files to be moved or written outside the configured library directory, potentially leading to unauthorized file manipulation. The vulnerability is fixed in version 0.140.0.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows authenticated users to move or write files outside the intended directory, which can lead to unauthorized modification or placement of files on the server. This can impact the integrity of the system and potentially disrupt availability. Confidentiality impact is not indicated. The CVSS score is 7.1 (high), reflecting the ease of exploitation with low attack complexity and no user interaction required.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade manyfold to version 0.140.0 or later, where this path traversal vulnerability is fixed. Since no official patch or temporary fix is indicated beyond this version upgrade, applying this update is the recommended remediation.
