Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves an integer division by zero error in the qtdemux_parse_trak function of the isomp4 plugin within GStreamer's gst-plugins-good package. Improper validation of MP4 atom data allows a local attacker to trigger a division by zero, resulting in a denial of service condition. The vulnerability affects versions prior to 1.28.2, with no confirmed remediation or patch available at this time.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows local attackers to cause a denial of service by triggering an integer division by zero error. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity of the system or data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, avoid processing untrusted MP4 files with the affected plugin to reduce risk.
