Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-46558 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in the Plane project management tool (makeplane) affecting versions before 1.3.1. The vulnerability arises from improper authorization checks allowing any authenticated user to access and manipulate assets across different Plane workspaces, violating intended workspace isolation. This issue is categorized under CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key) and CWE-862 (Missing Authorization). The vulnerability has a CVSS v3.1 score of 8.3, indicating high severity, with network attack vector, low attack complexity, requiring privileges, no user interaction, and high impact on confidentiality and integrity, and low impact on availability. The vulnerability has been patched in Plane version 1.3.1.

Potential Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows any authenticated user to bypass workspace authorization controls, leading to unauthorized access and modification of assets in other users' Plane workspaces. This can result in data confidentiality breaches, data integrity compromise, and limited availability impact due to possible asset deletion or overwriting.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix for this vulnerability is available in Plane version 1.3.1. Users and administrators should upgrade to version 1.3.1 or later to remediate this authorization bypass issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
