Technical Analysis

NextCRM, an open-source CRM software, has a vulnerability classified as CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key) affecting versions before 0.12.0. The application fails to verify ownership of resources during update operations on contacts and targets, permitting authenticated users to modify data they do not own. This broken object level authorization can lead to unauthorized data modification across tenants. The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 score of 7.1, indicating high severity. The issue is fixed in version 0.12.0.

Potential Impact

An attacker with any authenticated user privileges can modify sensitive CRM contact and target data belonging to other users or organizations. This can lead to unauthorized data tampering across tenants, potentially compromising data integrity and trust within the CRM system. There is no indication of impact on availability or confidentiality beyond the described integrity impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade NextCRM to version 0.12.0 or later, which fixes the broken object level authorization vulnerability. No other official remediation or temporary fixes are documented.
