CVE-2026-47171: CWE-116: Improper Encoding or Escaping of Output in duck-organization quest-bot
Quest Bot is an opensource modern Discord Bot built for moderation, utilities and support. Prior to version 1.0.3, a normal user can create a reminder whose message contains @everyone or @here. When the reminder triggers, the bot sends the stored message back into the channel without suppressing mass mentions. If the bot has permission to mention everyone, the reminder can ping the entire server or channel later. This issue has been patched in version 1.0.3.

Technical Summary
CVE-2026-47171 describes an improper encoding or escaping of output (CWE-116) vulnerability in the duck-organization quest-bot. Before version 1.0.3, the bot did not suppress mass mentions (@everyone, @here) in reminder messages created by normal users. Consequently, when reminders triggered, the bot could send messages that pinged all members of a Discord server or channel if it had the necessary permissions. This could lead to unwanted mass notifications. The issue was fixed in version 1.0.3 by properly handling or suppressing mass mentions in reminder messages.
Potential Impact
An attacker with normal user privileges could create reminders that trigger mass mentions, causing the bot to ping all members of a Discord server or channel. This could lead to spam, disruption, or annoyance of server members. The vulnerability requires no privileges or user interaction beyond creating a reminder. There are no known exploits in the wild as of the published date.
Mitigation Recommendations
This vulnerability is patched in quest-bot version 1.0.3. Users and administrators should upgrade to version 1.0.3 or later to prevent mass mention abuse via reminders. No other mitigation is indicated or required.
