Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CVE-2026-47583) is a type confusion issue (CWE-843) in the NVIDIA GeForce GPU Display Driver kernel module on Windows. Type confusion occurs when a program accesses a resource using an incompatible type, potentially leading to undefined behavior. Exploiting this flaw could allow an attacker with local access and low privileges to execute arbitrary code, cause denial of service, escalate privileges, disclose sensitive information, or tamper with data. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 7.8, reflecting high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is no vendor advisory or patch information provided, and no known exploits in the wild have been reported.

Potential Impact

An attacker with local access and low privileges could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code in the kernel context, cause system crashes (denial of service), escalate privileges to higher levels, disclose sensitive information, and tamper with data. This could compromise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, limit local access to trusted users and monitor for suspicious activity related to the NVIDIA GeForce GPU Display Driver. Avoid speculative mitigations that are not directly relevant to this type confusion vulnerability.
