Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CVE-2026-47593) exists in the NVIDIA GeForce GPU Display Driver for Windows within the kernel mode layer. An unprivileged user can exploit a stack-based buffer overflow to cause an out-of-bounds write. Successful exploitation may result in arbitrary code execution, escalation of privileges, and denial of service conditions. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 7.8, indicating high severity, with attack vector local, low attack complexity, low privileges required, no user interaction, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. No vendor advisory or patch information is currently available.

Potential Impact

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker with local access and limited privileges to execute arbitrary code in kernel mode, escalate their privileges, and cause system instability or denial of service. This poses a significant risk to system security and stability on affected Windows systems running the vulnerable NVIDIA GeForce driver.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict local access to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity related to GPU driver usage. Avoid running untrusted code on affected systems.
