Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-49444 is an improper input validation vulnerability in n8n that affects the Python Code Node feature. Authenticated users with workflow creation or modification permissions could exploit this flaw to escape the sandbox environment and achieve arbitrary code execution on the task runner container. This vulnerability affects n8n versions prior to 1.123.48, 2.21.8, and 2.22.4. The issue is resolved in these fixed versions.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated user with specific workflow permissions to execute arbitrary code on the task runner container, potentially compromising the host environment running n8n workflows. This could lead to unauthorized actions within the container context.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade n8n to version 1.123.48, 2.21.8, or 2.22.4 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation or temporary workaround is indicated in the available data.
