AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been released in Linux kernel versions 5.15.0-1117.124~20.04.1 and later. Users should update affected Linux Azure kernel versions to these fixed releases or later to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SCTP socket diagnostic code could lead to out-of-bounds reads due to stale association references. This flaw occurs when the SCTP exact sock_diag lookup holds a transport reference and resumes after the association has been freed, causing invalid memory access. The issue has been fixed by rejecting stale associations after acquiring the socket lock to prevent reporting torn association state.
