AI-suggested
A fix is available in linux-azure kernel versions 5.15.0-1117.124~20.04.1 and later. Users should upgrade to these or newer patched kernel versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation is required as the issue is resolved by the official patch.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's qrtr network subsystem was fixed by correcting the timing of socket reference count decrements in qrtr_port_remove(). The flaw allowed a race condition where concurrent readers could access a socket whose reference count had dropped to zero, potentially causing memory corruption. This issue was identified through syzkaller fuzzing and affects specific linux-azure kernel versions. The vulnerability has been addressed in later kernel releases.
