What to do
AI-suggested
The vulnerability has been partially mitigated by adding checks that return errors when deletion of local storage is attempted in NMI contexts via bpf_xxx_storage_delete() helpers. A full mitigation requires further kernel changes that are not yet implemented.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's BPF subsystem involves improper handling of local storage deletion during Non-Maskable Interrupts (NMI). This can cause deadlocks when freeing local storage via certain deferred mechanisms in NMI or reentrant contexts. The issue is partially mitigated by returning an error when deletion is attempted in NMI, but a full fix requires more extensive changes. No known exploits are reported.
