AI-suggested
A patch is available and fixed versions include Linux kernel 5.15.0-1117.124~20.04.1 and later. Users should upgrade to these or newer fixed kernel versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigations are required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AMD display driver (drm/amd/display) was resolved that involved unbounded iteration in VBIOS record-chain walk loops. The loops, which parse VBIOS images, could enter potentially hundreds of thousands of iterations if a malformed VBIOS image lacked the expected terminator record. This could cause out-of-bounds reads near the BIOS image boundary. The issue was fixed by capping the iteration count to a safe upper bound. The vulnerability affects specific Linux Azure kernel versions and has been fixed in later releases.
