AI-suggested
A fix is available and has been released in linux kernel versions 5.15.0-1117.124~20.04.1 and later. Users should update their systems to these fixed versions or newer and reboot to apply the changes. Due to an ABI change, recompilation and reinstallation of third-party kernel modules may be required. Follow vendor instructions for updating kernel packages accordingly.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's thunderbolt subsystem was resolved by limiting the XDomain response copy to the actual frame size. The function tb_xdomain_copy() previously copied more bytes than the actual frame size, potentially reading stale data from previous transactions. This flaw was fixed by copying only the minimum of the frame size and expected response size. The issue affects specific linux-azure kernel versions and has been addressed in later fixed versions. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 7.1 and is rated as low severity. No known exploits are reported in the wild. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions to remediate this issue.
