AI-suggested

A patch is available and should be applied by updating the Linux kernel to the fixed versions. After updating, a system reboot is required to apply the changes. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms the availability of official fixes. Users should follow standard system update procedures to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation actions are specified or required beyond applying the official patch.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's UDF file system implementation allowed crafted UDF images with oversized CRC length descriptors to bypass CRC validation. This flaw caused the kernel to skip proper CRC verification, accepting descriptors based only on an 8-bit tag checksum, which is easily recomputable. The issue has been resolved by rejecting such descriptors. The vulnerability affects certain Linux kernel versions prior to specific patched releases. A fix is available and should be applied via standard system updates.
