Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: ha-china
Product: blueprint-studio

Description

CVE-2026-53455 is a high-severity OS command injection vulnerability in ha-china's blueprint-studio prior to version 2.5.2. The vulnerability arises because the application interpolates Git credentials directly into a shell-based Git credential helper script without validating the input. An attacker who can set Git credentials may inject shell commands that execute with Home Assistant's operating system privileges, potentially accessing or modifying configuration data. This issue is fixed in version 2.5.2.

Technical Analysis

Blueprint Studio, a VS Code-like editor for Home Assistant configuration files, generated a shell-based Git credential helper script by directly embedding the configured Git username and token into executable script content without sanitization. This improper neutralization of special elements (CWE-78) allows an attacker with the ability to set Git credentials to inject shell commands via newline characters or shell syntax in the username or token. When Git runs the generated credential helper, these injected commands execute with the operating system privileges of Home Assistant, risking unauthorized access or modification of configuration data. The vulnerability is resolved in blueprint-studio version 2.5.2.

Potential Impact

An attacker who can control Git credentials can execute arbitrary shell commands with the operating system privileges of Home Assistant. This can lead to unauthorized access, modification, or disruption of Home Assistant configuration data. The vulnerability has a CVSS 4.0 score of 8.6, indicating high severity. There are no known exploits in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

This vulnerability is fixed in blueprint-studio version 2.5.2. Users should upgrade to version 2.5.2 or later to remediate this issue. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed beyond the fix in 2.5.2, so users should consult the vendor advisory for the latest remediation guidance.
