Published: 06/26/2026 (06/26/2026, 20:52:04 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: kestra-io
Product: kestra

Description

Kestra is an open-source, event-driven orchestration platform. Prior to 1.0.45 and 1.3.21, the previewFileFromExecution endpoint (GET /api/v1/{tenant}/executions/{executionId}/file/preview) contains an access control bypass that allows any authenticated user to read output files from any other execution within the same tenant, bypassing execution-level and namespace-level isolation. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.0.45 and 1.3.21.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-53577 is an incorrect authorization vulnerability (CWE-863) in the Kestra orchestration platform. Specifically, the GET /api/v1/{tenant}/executions/{executionId}/file/preview endpoint does not properly enforce access controls, enabling authenticated users to access output files from other executions within the same tenant. This bypasses execution-level and namespace-level isolation controls. The issue affects Kestra versions before 1.0.45 and 1.3.21 and has been resolved in those fixed versions.

Potential Impact

An attacker with valid authentication credentials in the same tenant can read output files from any execution, potentially exposing sensitive data. The vulnerability does not affect integrity or availability but impacts confidentiality. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 6.5 (medium severity), reflecting network attack vector, low attack complexity, and no user interaction required.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Kestra to version 1.0.45 or later, or 1.3.21 or later, where this access control bypass vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory. Patch status is confirmed by the fixed versions stated in the description.
