CVE-2026-55684: CWE-89: Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection') in LabRedesCefetRJ WeGIA
Description
CVE-2026-55684 is a critical SQL injection vulnerability in LabRedesCefetRJ's WeGIA web manager for charitable institutions. Versions prior to 3.8.6 have an unauthenticated endpoint that improperly handles user input, allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands. This can lead to unauthorized reading, modification, or deletion of sensitive data including billing, member, employee, permission, and credential information. Technical Analysis
The vulnerability exists in the cadastro_cobrancas_geracao.php endpoint of WeGIA before version 3.8.6. This endpoint accepts form-encoded POST data and uses extract($_REQUEST) to interpolate multiple parameters directly into a raw SQL INSERT statement without proper validation or quoting. Numeric parameters are unquoted and unvalidated, and string parameters can break out of their single-quoted context, enabling SQL injection. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this to execute arbitrary SQL commands affecting critical data and database tables. The issue is resolved in version 3.8.6.
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation allows unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands, leading to full compromise of database integrity and confidentiality. Attackers can read or modify sensitive data such as billing records, member and employee information, permissions, and credentials, or delete database tables. The CVSS score of 9.8 reflects the critical impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Mitigation Recommendations
Upgrade to WeGIA version 3.8.6 or later, where this SQL injection vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigations are specified or recommended by the vendor advisory.
