Vendor/Project: MervinPraison
Product: PraisonAI

Description

CVE-2026-57144 is a high-severity vulnerability in MervinPraison's PraisonAI multi-agent teams system affecting versions from 4.5.110 up to but not including 4.6.61. The issue arises when the SandlockSandbox fallback mechanism does not enforce filesystem or network restrictions if the Landlock module is unavailable, allowing sandboxed code to access unauthorized files and network despite restrictions. This vulnerability has been fixed in version 4.6.61.

Technical Analysis

PraisonAI versions >=4.5.110 and <4.6.61 use SandlockSandbox as a kernel-enforced sandbox backend to restrict untrusted code's filesystem and network access. However, on systems where the optional sandlock module loads but Landlock is unavailable, SandlockSandbox.execute() and run_command() silently fall back to SubprocessSandbox without enforcing native filesystem or network boundaries. This fallback allows sandboxed payloads to read files outside allowed paths and open network connections even when network access is disabled. The vulnerability is addressed in version 4.6.61.

Potential Impact

An attacker executing code within the sandbox can bypass filesystem and network restrictions, potentially reading sensitive files outside the allowed paths and initiating unauthorized network connections. This leads to a complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability within the sandboxed environment.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade PraisonAI to version 4.6.61 or later, where this issue has been patched. No other mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
