Published: 10/10/2026 (10/10/2026, 06:30:57 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: elemntor
Product: Hello Plus

Description

The Hello Plus plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 1.7.7. This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to publish their own Hello+ header/footer templates and draft currently active templates owned by higher-privileged users.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-5727 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in the Hello Plus WordPress plugin (versions up to 1.7.7). The plugin fails to properly verify that a user is authorized to perform certain actions, enabling authenticated users with Contributor-level access or above to publish their own Hello+ header/footer templates and draft templates owned by higher-privileged users. This vulnerability is classified under CWE-862 (Missing Authorization).

Potential Impact

An attacker with Contributor-level access or higher can bypass authorization controls to publish or draft templates that should be restricted to higher-privileged users. This could lead to unauthorized content changes affecting the website's appearance or functionality. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 5.4 (medium severity), indicating limited impact on confidentiality but some impact on integrity and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or fix is currently documented. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict Contributor-level access carefully and monitor for unauthorized template changes.
