Users should monitor vendor communications for patches addressing this certificate validation issue.

Description

openHiTLS versions 0.2.0 through 0.3.2 have a vulnerability in their X.509 certificate chain verification process. Specifically, the basic constraints extension and CA flag checks for intermediate certificate authorities (CAs) are only performed on version 3 certificates, while version 1 and 2 certificates bypass these checks. This flaw could allow improper validation of certificate chains.
