Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: nats-io
Product: nats-server

Description

NATS Server is a high-performance server for NATS.io, the cloud and edge native messaging system. Prior to 2.14.3 and 2.12.12, a client able to send account-scoped connection monitoring requests could crash the server by supplying Connz pagination Offset and Limit values that overflowed internal arithmetic before the response window was safely bounded. This issue is fixed in versions 2.14.3 and 2.12.12.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-58207 is an integer overflow vulnerability (CWE-190) in nats-io nats-server. Specifically, in versions before 2.12.12 and 2.14.3, the server improperly handles Connz pagination Offset and Limit parameters in account-scoped connection monitoring requests. When these values overflow internal arithmetic calculations before the response window is bounded, it can lead to a server crash. The vulnerability has been addressed in nats-server versions 2.12.12 and 2.14.3.

Potential Impact

An attacker with low privileges (PR:L) who can send connection monitoring requests can cause a denial of service by crashing the nats-server. The vulnerability does not impact confidentiality or integrity but results in high impact on availability due to server crash. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 7.7 (High), reflecting network attack vector, low attack complexity, no user interaction, and scope change.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade nats-server to version 2.12.12 or 2.14.3 or later, where this integer overflow vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation or temporary workaround is indicated. Patch status is confirmed fixed in these versions.
