A fix for this vulnerability is available in commit a06ca41. Users of picotls as a client-side TLS stack should update to the fixed version to prevent denial of service. No additional mitigations are indicated.

Description

CVE-2026-59993 is a vulnerability in the picotls TLS protocol library used as a client-side TLS stack. A specially crafted sequence involving a HelloRetryRequest followed by a spoofed Hello message can trigger a null-pointer dereference, causing the affected process to terminate and resulting in denial of service. The issue is fixed in a later commit.
