AI-suggested

Upgrade socfortress CoPilot to version 0.1.76 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. The fix includes proper sandboxing of Jinja2 template rendering and validation of uploaded templates. Until upgraded, restrict access to the `/case-report-template/upload` endpoint and avoid generating reports from untrusted templates. No other vendor advisory mitigation is provided.

Description

CVE-2026-61707 is a critical code injection vulnerability in socfortress CoPilot versions prior to 0.1.76. It arises because case-report templates uploaded by low-privilege users are executed without sandboxing by Jinja2 engines when generating reports. The upload endpoint validates only MIME type from filenames, not template content, allowing attackers to upload malicious templates. These templates are stored globally without tenant scoping, enabling attackers to replace legitimate templates. When admins or analysts generate reports, attacker-controlled Jinja expressions execute as root, exposing sensitive data and credentials. The vulnerability is fixed in version 0.1.76.
