A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux Azure kernel versions to resolve the use-after-free vulnerability. Users should update to versions at or beyond the fixed builds specified by the vendor. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's usbip vudc_remove function due to a race condition has been fixed. This flaw could cause the kernel to access freed memory when a timer callback executes after the vudc structure is freed. The vulnerability affects multiple Linux Azure kernel versions prior to certain 7.0.0 builds and specific 5.15 and 4.11/4.13 versions. A patch is available and should be applied to mitigate the risk.
