AI-suggested
A vendor-provided patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux Azure kernel versions. The Ubuntu security advisory USN-8593-1 confirms fixes for this and other kernel vulnerabilities. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions to remediate this issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's xfrm ESP implementation was resolved, addressing an issue where the ESP out-of-place fast path incorrectly handled combined single-fragment length checks. This flaw could cause improper memory handling when the combined aligned length exceeded a page, potentially leading to system compromise. The fix restores the combined-length page gate for both IPv4 and IPv6. Multiple Linux Azure kernel versions are affected. A high-severity CVSS 3.1 score of 9.8 is assigned. A patch is available from the vendor.
