An official patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to remediate this vulnerability. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been fixed. Users should update their Linux kernel to a version that includes this fix. No additional mitigation steps are specified or required beyond applying the official update.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's KVM SEV implementation related to the computation of the maximum length of the in-GHCB scratch area has been resolved. The issue involved incorrectly setting the effective length of the scratch area when it resides in the GHCB shared buffer, potentially leading to buffer overflows. This flaw was due to the kernel using a minimum length value rather than the full size needed for certain PSC requests. The vulnerability has a high CVSS score of 9.3 and affects multiple Linux kernel versions. A patch is available to correct this flaw.
