A patch is available and included in recent Ubuntu kernel updates. Users and administrators should apply the latest kernel updates to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel Bluetooth HIDP subsystem allowed out-of-bounds reads due to missing length checks in the hidp_input_report() function. This could cause phantom input events when processing truncated packets from paired devices. The issue has been fixed by replacing manual length checks with safer skb_pull_data() calls. The vulnerability affects multiple Linux kernel versions prior to certain patched releases and has a CVSS score of 8.8. A patch is available and included in recent Ubuntu kernel updates.
