A vulnerability in the Linux kernel Bluetooth HIDP subsystem was fixed by adding proper length checks in the hidp_input_report() function. The flaw allowed out-of-bounds reads when processing truncated packets from paired devices, potentially causing phantom input events. This issue has been addressed by replacing manual length checks with safer skb_pull_data() calls. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 8.8 and affects multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 7.0.0-28.28~24.04.1 and related versions. A patch is available and included in recent Ubuntu kernel updates.
