AI-suggested

A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux Azure kernel versions. Users should update to the fixed versions at or beyond 7.0.0-28.28, 7.0.0-1009.9, or the corresponding patched 5.15.x and 4.x kernel versions. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Shared Memory Communications (SMC) subsystem was resolved. The issue involved re-initialization of SMC hash tables, which could corrupt active hash entries and lead to a corrupted list. This flaw was fixed by removing the unnecessary re-initialization in the smc_init function. The vulnerability affects Linux Azure kernel versions prior to certain 7.0.0 builds and specific earlier versions. A patch is available to address this issue.
