AI-suggested
The vulnerability has been resolved by a kernel patch that changes the allocation order and adds synchronization to prevent NULL dereferences. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the provided data; check the vendor or kernel mailing list advisories for the exact fixed versions and apply updates accordingly.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel netfilter x_tables subsystem allowed a NULL pointer dereference due to a race condition during hook operations allocation under a mutex. This could cause a general protection fault during network namespace cleanup. The issue has been resolved by changing the allocation sequence to ensure valid operations are always present before the table is visible in the list and by synchronizing RCU callbacks on error. No known exploits are reported.
