What to do

AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to cap the record_count value before processing, preventing out-of-bounds reads. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this patch once available.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's hwmon subsystem for the pmbus/adm1266 driver allowed an out-of-bounds read due to an unchecked record_count value from a device's BLACKBOX_INFO response. The issue was fixed by capping the record_count to a maximum allowed value before processing. This prevents potential memory corruption caused by malformed device responses.
