Description
CVE-2026-64096 is a high-severity use-after-free vulnerability in the batman-adv multicast component of the Linux kernel. The flaw occurs because batadv_mcast_purge_orig() removes entries from RCU-protected lists without waiting for an RCU grace period, allowing concurrent readers to access freed memory. This can lead to memory corruption and potentially full system compromise. The issue has been fixed by moving the purge operation to ensure RCU readers have drained before memory is reclaimed. Multiple Linux kernel versions, including various 4.4 and 5.15 series builds, are affected.
