A patch is available that adds the necessary NULL pointer check in ipv6_hop_ioam(). Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that address this issue. The vendor advisory confirms the fix is included in updated kernel versions. No additional mitigations are specified or required.

Description

A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability was fixed in the Linux kernel's ipv6 ioam subsystem. The function ipv6_hop_ioam() did not validate a pointer returned by __in6_dev_get(), which could be NULL during interface teardown, potentially causing a kernel crash. This issue was addressed by adding a NULL check to prevent dereferencing a NULL pointer when processing IOAM Hop-by-Hop options.
