A fix is available in the Linux kernel as indicated by multiple fixed commit versions. Users should update to a kernel version including these fixes to prevent division-by-zero and arithmetic underflow issues in the elan_i2c driver. No additional mitigation is required as the patch safely handles invalid input and preserves firmware update capabilities.
Description
CVE-2026-64275 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's elan_i2c touchpad driver where invalid zero values for device physical dimensions can cause a division-by-zero error and kernel panic during device probe. The flaw also includes an arithmetic underflow in touch reporting logic when calculated widths are too small. The issue is fixed by adding checks to prevent division by zero and clamping values to avoid underflow, allowing safe fallback defaults and preserving firmware update paths.
