AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu (USN-8726-1) confirms that this and other kernel vulnerabilities have been fixed. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions as provided by their distribution. No additional mitigations are specified or required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's synaptics-rmi4 input driver allowed out-of-bounds memory access due to improper sizing of a keymap array. This flaw could lead to information leakage and arbitrary memory writes by local users able to access the evdev input device. The issue has been fixed by correctly sizing the keymap array to the full GPIO count. Multiple Linux kernel versions are affected, and patches are available.
