AI-suggested
A patch fixing this vulnerability is available and included in Linux kernel versions 6.8.0-147.147, 6.8.0-1067.70, 7.0.0-1012.12~24.04.1, 6.8.0-1071.79, 7.0.0-1014.14~24.04.1, and others as listed in the fixedVersions. Users and administrators should upgrade affected Linux kernel versions to these fixed releases or later to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation is required as the fix properly bounds the firmware read requests.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel Bluetooth driver btnxpuart allows an out-of-bounds firmware read during the v3 firmware download process. The function nxp_recv_fw_req_v3() does not properly check that the requested offset and length stay within the firmware image bounds, potentially causing the driver to read and send memory beyond the firmware data over UART. This flaw has been fixed by adding boundary checks and rejecting invalid requests.
