AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been applied in Linux kernel versions 6.8.0-147.147, 6.8.0-1067.70, 7.0.0-1012.12~24.04.1, and others as listed in the fixedVersions. Users should update to these fixed kernel versions to remediate the issue.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel ALSA cmipci driver occurs because snd_ctl_new1() can return NULL on memory allocation failure, but the return value is not checked before dereferencing, leading to a NULL pointer dereference. This issue has been fixed by adding NULL checks and returning -ENOMEM if allocation fails.
