AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability is available in libssh2 as of commit 42e33d8. Users and maintainers should update libssh2 to the fixed version to remediate this issue. No vendor advisory content was provided, but the presence of a fixed commit confirms that an official fix exists.

Description

CVE-2026-66035 is a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in libssh2 versions through 1.11.1. It occurs during the Encrypt-then-MAC cipher negotiation phase when a malicious SSH server sends a packet with a packet_length smaller than the cipher's block size. This leads to heap metadata corruption before authentication, potentially allowing an attacker to overwrite function pointers and manipulate memory during the session handshake.
