Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: ASUSTOR Inc.
Product: ADM

Description

A path traversal vulnerability (CWE-22) exists in the VPN Clients of ASUSTOR Inc. ADM. The issue arises because user-controlled certificate name input is not properly validated before constructing the upload destination path. An authenticated attacker with high privileges can exploit this to write certificate files outside the intended directory, limited by process privileges and filesystem permissions. Affected versions include ADM 4.1.0 through 4.3.3.RUN1 and 5.0.0 through 5.1.3.RI81. The vulnerability has a high severity with a CVSS 4.0 base score of 7. No official patch or remediation guidance is currently available.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-67245 is a path traversal vulnerability in ASUSTOR Inc. ADM VPN Clients caused by insufficient validation of user-controlled certificate name input. This flaw allows an authenticated attacker with high privileges to write uploaded certificate files outside the designated VPN certificate directory. The impact depends on the process privileges and filesystem permissions. The vulnerability affects ADM versions from 4.1.0 through 4.3.3.RUN1 and 5.0.0 through 5.1.3.RI81. There is no vendor advisory or patch information currently available, and no known exploits in the wild have been reported.

Potential Impact

An authenticated attacker with high privileges can exploit this vulnerability to write files outside the intended VPN certificate directory. This could lead to unauthorized file writes on the system, constrained by the process privileges and filesystem permissions. The impact severity is high, with a CVSS 4.0 score of 7. This may facilitate further attacks depending on the environment and permissions.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict access to the VPN Clients to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity related to certificate uploads. Avoid granting unnecessary high privileges to users who can upload certificates.
